On saturday 25 March there will be the European Council Summit: European Union heads of state or government will converge to commemorate 60 years since the signing of the Treaty of Rome.

Security measures will be particularly tight in two areas around key government buildings which will be off-limits to pedestrians and vehicles:  the Capitol area (blue zone), will be closed to traffic from 00.30 am, and the Quirinale area (green zone) bordered by Via Nazionale, Piazza della Repubblica, Via Barberini, Via Bissolati, Via del Corso, will be closed to traffic from 07.00 am.

From 00.30 am to approximately 02.00 pm, the stops and the terminus of public transportation in the two areas ("Blue Zone" and "Green zone") will be suspended. The stop "Colosseum" (Metro B) and the stops "Barberini" and "Spain" (Metro A) will be closed all day on March 25. The previous and next stops will still be available. The terminus of the tram line "8" will be moved at the bus stop in via Arenula / Cairoli. 

On saturday 25 March there will also be 4 demonstations both anti and pro European Union policies:

Hours 11.00 - 14.00: from Piazza Bocca della Verità to Arco di Costantino, passing through Via dei Cerchi, Piazza di Porta Capena, Via di San Gregorio, via Celio Vibenna
Hours 11.00 - 17.00: from Piazza Vittorio to Arco di Costantino, passing through via Emanuele Filiberto, Piazza di Porta San Giovanni, Via Merulana, Via Labicana and Via Celio Vibenna. 
Hours 11.00 - 19.00: from Piazza dell’Esquilino to Largo Corrado Ricci, along Via Cavour
Hours 14.00 - 19.00: from Piazzale Ostiense to Piazza Bocca della Verità, passing through via Marmorata, via Galvani, Via Luca della Robbia, Piazza dell’Emporio, Lungotevere Aventino.
