Description

The house-museum where Giorgio De Chirico (1888-1978) lived with his wife Elisabetta Far was reopened in November 1998, on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of his death.
The apartment occupies the last three floors of the seventeenth century Palazzo dei Borgognoni with a view over Piazza di Spagna, the Spanish Steps, Trinità dei Monti, and Villa Medici. A foreshortening of the city that has inspired many of the artist’s works. The De Chirico Foundation has reconstructed with great attention and philologic research the internal spaces according to the original furnishings: the study (complete with all the items used by the artist for painting, such as casts, materials, and his armchair), the library, and the luxurious halls enriched by the works that are part of the private collection.
